Departures ahead of new season
Yeovil Town Ladies FC announce player changes
Off the back of the Spring Series, the club has made changes to its playing squad for the upcoming winter season in FA Women's Super League One.
Defenders Natalie Haigh and Hannah Short have left the club, as have midfielders Steph Williams, Molly Clark, Angharad James and Nia Jones along with goalkeeper Charlotte Haynes,
Haigh has signed for Women’s Premier League side Coventry United, whilst Angharad James signs a professional deal with Everton Ladies, who were bumped up to WSL1, despite not doing so through an 'on field' promotion. Nia Jones, who is a talented multi-sports person is to focus on her international level netball and Molly Clark has signed for her former side Portsmouth. Short, Williams and Haynes have all become free agents.
With the demands of playing in the top tier of women’s football and the need to have an increase in training contact time, as well as the dedication to extra Strength and Conditioning and other supporting areas, the increase was one which manager Jamie Sherwood had to put in place.
He said “We thank all of the players for their commitment to our club, but we have to move on and we have to demand more from everyone, in terms of our training time frequency.
“Our new young squad is full of the energy we need to compete at this level and with the good mix of experience, we are confident that we can work smarter and go every yard at every moment.”
