Youth Team Open Training Session
Talented females invited to attend on Tuesday 3rd July 2018
Yeovil Town Ladies FC are offering players who are in the following age groups from September, the opportunity to attend an open training session at the club.
Next season, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15 & U16 female players will form a part of the Yeovil Town Ladies FC youth team squads, and will be training and playing regular fixtures, in a high quality environment on a weekly basis.
In the 2017/18 season, Yeovil Town Ladies youth team squads played fixtures in the mixed leagues locally, meaning that the girls teams were playing against teams predominantly made up of all boys teams. The aim from this, was to challenge players individually and collectively, in order to help develop talented females, in an environment which is tougher than that of the girls leagues, where Yeovil have been a member club for many previous seasons.
The open training session on Tuesday 3rd July, is being run at Huish Epsicopi Leisure Centre 3G pitch and players in attendance can come along and get a feel of what the club is like, whilst also demonstrating to coaches a bit more about them as a player. The open training session will see a range of staff in attendance, including staff from the FA Women’s Super League section of the club, who are responsible for the first team, who play in the highest tier of women’s football and are currently transitioning towards full time professional football.
It is hoped that more players from the youth section of the club will come through its own pathway in the future, and go on to represent the club on the biggest stage of women’s football.
The 2017/18 season saw U12-U16 female players all compete extremely well against predominantly boys teams, with the U14 age group in particular being crowned county cup winners, along with league cup winners, beating all boys teams all the way to the final.
The 2018/19 season, will see teams train weekly focussing on the technical and tactical aspects of the game, which will include age appropriate strength and conditioning training, as well as a coaching mentoring system in place, lead by senior staff at the club, to ensure the players are getting the very highest standards of coaching on a regular basis.
At the open training session, U11, U12 & U13 players will attend from 6.00-7.30pm, whilst U14, U15 & U16 players will attend from 7.30-9.00pm. Please note - parents MUST book in advance, and no-one will be accepted after the deadline date of 1st July.
