Rachael Edwards

Date of Birth:  -  31st October 1979.

Age:  -  30.

Playing Positions:  -  Right back, midfield, right sided forward.

Previous Clubs:  -  Dawlish Town, Exeter City. Play small sided football in the summer.

Nickname:  -  Eddie.

Profession:  -  Works for the FA in disability football development.

Career High:  -  Winning the League and Pat Sowden Cup double in 2006/07!

Favourite Club:  -  Manchester United.

Favourite Player:  -  Eric Cantona.

Like many players at Yeovil Town Ladies Football Club Rachael Edwards is highly versatile, and is able to operate in defence, midfield and attack. She is equally as effective in each department, and is one of the first names to go on Steve Phelps’s team sheet each week.

Rachael joined the Glovers from Exeter City in 2005, and has been a main stay in the side, putting in consistent performances ever since. She is a very good tackler of the ball, and is noted for being able to put in effective and clean slide tackles in most games.

She is strong and fast on the ball, and has played comfortably in three different positions for the club, most notably in the 2008/09 season when operating up front, she turned many heads with some strong and powerful displays, scoring five goals in five games!

Rachael Edwards won the 2007/08 Yeovil Town Ladies Club Secretary’s player of the season award and won the Sponsor’s player of the season in 2008/09.
