Claire Heydon joined Yeovil Town Ladies from AFC Bournemouth Ladies in the summer of 2008, and has since become a rock in the Glovers defence.
Claire, who is known as Bean by her team mates, is a hard tackling centre back, who is a great tackler and a fine passer of the ball. She is also highly competitive, and hates to lose, so little gets past her.
Although only playing in defence for Yeovil, she has actually played in every position on the pitch during her career, and claims to be a secret goalkeeper. (Don’t tell Phelpsy!!)
Bean started her footballing career at the age of fourteen with Bournemouth, and progressing through the youth ranks at the club, and made her first team debut at an early age.
She went on to become the main stay at the heart of the Cherries defence, and played a major part when they won Southern Premier League and Cup double.
Like her team mate Lindsey Roe, Bean did well with Bournemouth after promotion to the South West Combination, but could see the potential at Yeovil Town Ladies, and decided her future lay in Somerset.
Claire had a great first season with the Glovers, forming a good partnership with Georgia Coles in the centre of defence, and continues to be a major asset as the girls look to gain promotion this season.
