Anusia Rourke Joined Yeovil Town Ladies from the Somerset Centre of Excellence in the summer of 2008, and has since established herself as one of the stars of the squad.
Nush is a striker of breath taking ability, who seems to have it all, and with it, she is vital to the Glovers. She has great pace, and being physically strong, she has the ability to sweep through opposition defences with devastating effect.
She is also excellent in the air, and like strike partner Amy Wild, she has a natural goal scoring instinct, finishing her first season at the club as joint top scorer, with thirteen vital goals - an average of 0.8 goals a game.
Anusia started her career playing boys football from the age of six. She was soon recognised as having potential and joined the Bristol City Centre of Excellence aged eight. She continued playing at the Centre of Excellence until aged fifteen, when she moved to the Somerset Centre of Excellence. Nush continued to develop well at this level, and when she reached sixteen, Steve Phelps eagerly recruited her to Yeovil Town.
When Anusia first joined the Glovers she patiently waited for her chance, and following the departure of Alana Willson to Forest Green, she came into the team and has never looked back, now being one of the first names on Steve Phelps’ team sheet.
Anusia is a modest girl, but like many strikers, she has a massive belief in her own ability, an ability that is saw her play a massive role as the club were crowned South West Combination champions in 2010. During that season she struck up a fantastic partnership with Jemma Tewkesbury, and it was her vision that helped to set up many of Jemma’s record breaking 52 goals that season.
Anusia continues to impress playing alongside Tewkesbury and Laura Bray in the Glovers team, and is thriving in Premier League football.
Anusia Rourke was awarded the Secretary’s player of the season in 2009/10.
