Yeovil Town Ladies Home Grounds

The Somerton Sports Club

The Yeovil Town Ladies Reserves, Under-Sixteens and Under-Fourteens play their home matches at the Somerton Sports Club, which is located on Gassons Lane, just off the Langport road on the outskirts of the Town.

The Sports Club has a number of playing pitches, and excellent facilities. A variety of senior and junior football clubs use the club, and it also hosts other sports such as rugby and tennis.

The Somerton Sports Club is owned by the local authority and is therefore very community orientated. With this in mind, there is a large area in the centre of the ground for children with skateboards and mountain bikes, and a variety of local events are also held at the ground throughout the year.

The clubhouse is open to the general public for their enjoyment, with the facility a busy and popular meeting place.

Yeovil Town Ladies are now in their third season at the club, and have a very good relationship with the ground staff and the people who run the facility, with an excellent standard of pitch consistently provided.

The first team play on the main pitch in front of the clubhouse, of which they get almost exclusive use. This limited amount of games goes along way to assuring an excellent quality surface, with matches rarely called off. The pitch is roped off, has a set of dugouts and modern goals, which come up to regulation health and safety standards.

The Reserve Team play on the top pitch, and this is again a good surface and comes up to the required standards, allowing for good football to be played, with players able to develop their skills.

The Somerton Sports Club has two sets of player dressing rooms, along with two for match officials. All have full facilities, including hot showers and toilets, coming up to South West Women’s Combination Football League required standards.

The clubhouse is available to players after the game, with the bar open, and food provided, kindly prepared by Lesley Trowbridge. The bar is available to officials and supporters as well, with hot drinks and snacks also for sale.

The First Team and Reserves play their home matches on a Sunday, and unless otherwise stated, the First Team kick off at 2.00pm, and the Reserves at 1.30pm.

Away teams visiting the sports ground will find ample car parking to the rear of the clubhouse. The dressing rooms are located at the far end of the building, next to the tennis courts, between the car park and the pitches.

Yeovil Town Ladies Football Club would like to thank the Somerton Sports Club and their staff for their continued support, and look forward to a long and lasting partnership.
