The Yeovil Town Ladies Under-Sixteen squad are managed and coached by the experienced Tam Burns. Tam took over from Mike Board this season, although he has been coaching the squad for the past three seasons. Tam is also a coach with the Yeovil Town Centre of Excellence, and has been involved in the club’s Football in the Community scheme.

When they were the Under-Fourteen’s squad, the girls were managed by club boss Steve Phelps, but when he had to devote more of his time to the First Team, the Management reins were handed over to Mike Board.

Board bought in former Queen of the South goalkeeper Tam Burns as coach, and continuing the good work of Phelps, they took the squad from strength to strength.

Helping the players to make the progression from seven to eleven a side football, Burns and Board lead the squad to third place in the league in their first season, with some notable successes in friendly competitions.

Despite losing a number of players to the County Centre of Excellence and a local school that started to have classes on Saturdays, the squad continued to have success in their second season, with the girls managing another third in the league, as they continued to develop.

Now as the Under-Sixteen’s, the squad are learning the rigours ready for adult football. They are developing well towards the senior squad, yet again proving the future of the Yeovil Town Ladies Football Club is in capable hands.

The Yeovil Town Ladies Under-Sixteen squad play their home games at the Chilthorne Domer Sports Ground on Saturday mornings at 10.30am. They also train the Tintinhull Sports Ground/Bucklers Mead School each Tuesday evening from 5.30pm until 7.30pm.
