Under-Thirteen Youth Squad

A Bright New Future

The Yeovil Town Ladies Under-13 squad is the result of a merger of last season’s Chaka and Impeesa Under-Twelve squads, and is continuing to compete in the Somerset Girls League.

The squad is managed by Michelle Yeowell, who is in her second season as a coach with the club. She also plays in the senior squad, and is an FA Level One coach who is currently working towards her Level Two. Michelle is a fine trainer, and did a great job with an inexperienced set of players last year.

Much of the present squad of players was recruited to the club in the summer of 2008, and was split into the two squads, Chaka and Impeesa.

Chaka, managed my Amy Jones, was made up of the more experienced players, and had a superb first season, finishing second in the league, just one point behind the winners Bishops Lydeard.

Impeesa, managed by Michelle Yeowell, were less experienced than their Chaka counterparts. Results in their first season were initially hard to come by, but improved, and in the end they enjoyed a fine end to the campaign, winning the ‘Plate’ at the Yeovil Town Ladies end of season youth tournament.

The Under-Thirteen squad have an amazing team spirit, and every girl loves playing, training and learning new skills. No matter what the result on the pitch, they finish each game with a smile on their faces – a highly commendable trait in this day and age.

Winning is not always the most important aspect of youth football, but performance and progression is, and in that respect the Under-Thirteen squad are coming on leaps and bounds. The squad boasts some fine young players, with many showing very good potential for the future, so they should continue to progress as they work towards playing eleven a side football next season.

The Yeovil Town Ladies Under-13 squad play their home games at the Tintinhull Sports Ground on Saturday mornings at 10.30 o’clock. They also train at Tintinhull each Tuesday evening from 6.00pm until 7.30pm.

Any parents who have a daughter interested in joining should contact club Secretary Ali King, or Michelle Yeowell direct. For full contact details, please Click Here.
